If you’re a very eco-conscious person, you’ve most certainly thought about how much wasted water is used in your home. Luckily, in today’s day and age, there are many solutions to fix such a problem. Today there are appliance options that can help regulate how much water is being used. These appliances can help save you a pretty penny, and help you be more eco-friendly. Read below to check out some appliance options for saving water so you can get them installed by your local professional plumber ASAP!

Toilets

One big way to save water is to invest in an eco-friendly toilet. There are many great options available everywhere, but many of them are saving water by utilizing low-flow. Today, there are toilets that even have two different options for flushing. There’s a very low flow flush button designed for liquid, and a button that gives a little more flow designed for solids to avoid a clog. This ensures that you use the least amount of water required for flushing the toilet. Many new toilets will use vacuum-assisted flushing (similar to airplane bathrooms), to use less water when flushing.

Showerheads

There are showerhead options on the market called performance showerheads. These showerheads will help regulate your water usage, as they use substantially less water during a shower. The average showerhead uses about 2.5 gallons per minute in a shower, while the water-saving option only uses about 1.5 gallons per minute. This may not seem like a lot, but for a ten-minute shower, you would save about 10 gallons of water between the two options. Assuming you shower every day, that would save 70 gallons of water a week. Water-saving showerheads are an especially good idea when you have multiple people in your household.

Faucets

Just like the showerheads discussed above, there are also low flow sink faucets to replace your basic faucet. The amount of water conserved is similar to the showerheads, saving about .7 gallons per minute. Faucets generally aren’t used as much as showerheads are so the impact won’t be as great, but every little bit you can do to be more eco-friendly counts.
